Well that was a bummer!

We went to the doctor for our 16 week appointment today.  We did get another ultrasound but it wasn't really conclusive on the gender.  Our little babe had those legs spread wide open like it was trying to show us what it is!  However, because we didn't get to have one of the really fancy pants ultrasounds this time around and because I'm only 16 weeks at this point, he couldn't say for sure.  There was nothing in between the legs, which could mean girl, and I really think it is, or it could just mean there is a little boy that hasn't quite manifested yet.  Nate is still holding out for boy parts.  Luckily, we don't have to wait another 4 weeks for the next ultrasound!  Since the next ultrasound is through the hospital instead of through our doctor office, they want us to go in at 18 weeks and then back in to my normal doctor for my 20 week visit.  So in about 2 weeks we will have the conclusive test that will measure brain development and bone growth and determine my official due date as well as giving us a very clear picture of the baby's gender parts.  So... the gender poll is still open at the top right part of the screen, if you haven't voted yet, then you need to!  If you have voted, you may want to change to girl :p

Just kidding!

If the Old Wives and their tales are correct....

Of course I had to do an old wives tale tally before my ultrasound tomorrow to see if there is any truth to these whatsoever.  So here are the ones I found and my answers:

Am I craving sweet or salty foods?
-definitely salty.  In fact a lot of the time I crave salt itself and couldn't care less what it's in.  Then again, I rarely if ever, craved sweet or sugary foods before I was pregnant, so it's not weird to me.  But this one says BOY

Am I carrying low or high? Or front or wide?- I personally don't think I'm even far enough along to know if it's high or low, but I feel like I'm growing out the sides more than out the front so I'll say wide.  This one says GIRL

Have I had bad morning sickness?
-Yes and No...  It's been pretty darn bad for me considering the last time I threw up prepregnancy was when I was a kid, even though I have had times where I was plenty sick enough to do so.  However, there are people out there who threw up WAY more than I ever did so I don't know if it's really fair for me to say i've had morning sickness compared to them.  But i'm going to say yes anyways.  So this one says GIRL

Chinese Gender Predictor?
-This one says BOY

Mayan Gender Predictor?
-This one says BOY

Have I gotten more or less beautiful with pregnancy?
-Nate says i'm crazy but I say less!  I have had way more zits and even in places that I wouldn't normally be getting them!  Also my skin has gotten really pale and splotchy.  I am definitely not glowing.  This one says GIRL.

Is the fetal hearbeat fast or slow?
-At my first ultrasound, the heartbeat was a high 160bpm.  This one says GIRL.

So that is 3 for BOY and 4 for GIRL.  I have this gut feeling that it's going to be a boy though.  I can't explain why, I just keep feeling like it is.  I guess we'll find out tomorrow!!  Everyone watch your phones in the afternoon, you'll be getting a text!

My Little Crochet Projects

I never would have guessed when sister Wheeler taught me at 14 how to crochet that I ever would have grown up and actually turned it into a hobby!  I honestly hadn't even picked up a crochet hook since learning the first time forever ago until fall of last year.  Since then though, I have worked on lots of different little projects such as baby blankets mostly and hats and a scarf and some ugly socks.  A couple of months ago, a friend of mine found some baby shoes on pinterest that were crocheted for sale.  Of course, not wanting to spend $25 on the little things, she asked me if she thought I could figure out a pattern for them.  I figured it couldn't hurt to try it out!  After 2 oddly shaped shoes, I came up with a pattern that I think is pretty darn cute!

For some reason I forgot to take another picture after I added the buttons and the little strap across the top but you get the basic idea.  I know several of you have already seen the pictures but Nate keeps telling me that I need to do more blog posts about my little projects; so I will be better about taking pictures of the things I make.  I have a feeling I might go a little crazy in a week when we find out the baby's gender with making things for me finally.  So far everything I've made has been for other people

My Pretty New Glider

It should not be a surprise to anyone that Nate loves to look through ksl listings in his spare time.  While normally he's looking at silly things like motorcycles, he has recently ventured into the baby listings (this is his way of being really excited, trust me) and he has found a lot of things that we definitely don't need.  He also found a few wonderful things!  The first thing he found was a brand new, still in the plastic, never been used Boppy pillow!
Now I am a very skeptical person when it comes to things like pillows from ksl, seeing as how I  can't just soak it in bleach water and call it sanitary; but this was still sealed and of course i'm going to wash the cover still just to be sure.  But considering that these pillows are normally $30 just for the pillow and then covers can be anywhere from $20-$50 depending on where you get it, I am pretty darn satisfied with getting mine for $20 with the cover included :)

The other little beauty we found on ksl was this glider!

Again, I am a very skeptical person when it comes to used cushions, but Nate swears to me that the older lady he bought this from had the hugest, most beautiful, well kept house.  She bought the glider when she started having grandbabies so that she could rock them to sleep but now they are all grown and she doesn't need it anymore.  Upon careful examination by me when it got home, I decided that it's perfect!  It's so very comfortable and it was only $20 and included the rocking ottoman too.  How could I not love it?  Sometimes I go into the room just to sit in it again because I love it so much.

And lastly, I couldn't do a blogpost without including a belly picture.  Of course, I am in my glider :)
The little ninja is about 4 inches big this week.  One book says a navel orange, another says an avocado.  I'm going with the avocado because I have had some MASSIVE cravings for anything with avocado this week.  Mostly guacmole.  Actually it's all guacamole cravings.... but only the hommade kind satisfies it.  The wholly guacamole stuff is good, it just doesn't quite hit the spot.  Too bad I don't live in california where I could get them for 25 cents instead of $1.50 each.

13 1/2 week Picture

I know it's not much, but I have a little belly growing!  This was taken just a couple days ago when I was about 13 1/2 weeks.  Today I am 14 weeks!  Everything seems to be going just fine so far and we have our next doctor visit in 2 weeks.  They will be doing another ultrasound next time we go in so i'm really hoping we can convince the nurse to take a peek at the gender for us :)  We'll keep you posted as we find things out!

Free Baby Stuff!

I've decided that one of the best parts about people knowing that you're pregnant is that everyone wants to give you free stuff!  I recently ventured into the motherhood maternity store because all my prepregnancy pants are either too tight, really uncomfortable or push my little bump into an awkward looking muffin top.  Anyways, at the checkout, the nice lady gave me this "welcome to pregnancy" bag of goodies.  Most of it was just stupid ads for things like fluoride bottled water, in case you want to spend an extra $50 a month on water when you could just get it from the tap for free?  But one thing that I got in that bag was a sheet of coupons for not only a free carseat cover but also a free udder cover!  I love free stuff!  And the Promo codes work more than once :)  so I will share them with you!
For the carseat cover at carseatcanopy.com:

Use the promo code "ucover"

And for the feeding cover at uddercovers.com:

use the promo code "carseat"

You can also order one of these baby sling things for free with either of those same promo codes at sevenslings.com:
Northern Lights
Aren't free things wonderful?
