4th of July!

Walking to the Freedom Festival from our apartment.

We went to Pleasant Grove to see some fireworks.  Nate had to work that night so I took Nate's sister, Charity with me instead.  She didn't want to take a picture but I made her do it anyways :)
Our large array of snacks for the occasion.  Waiting for fireworks is no fun when you don't have snacks!
It kept raining on and off so we had an umbrella to share
After the fireworks show, we had some sparklers and a couple of little fireworks to play with at home so Nate could see some too.  Charity was scared of the sparklers so we let her light one first hehe
Mine really startled me at first cause they would explode out the top before they started sparkling!

Nate about to set off a little ground one called "Short Stack"
The Short Stack in action.  Don't worry, it was cooler than this picture makes it look.

Me, setting off the last of the sparklers.  Such a fun day!

Ever wondered how I look with long hair?

Well wonder no more!!  This is exactly what I look like with crappy, cheap hair extensions in :)

I think they make me look like I'm 12

And this is what you do when it's raining outside and you don't want your hair to get wet!

Cinco de Mayo

I've decided that I apparently don't get blog posts up until about a month after they've actually happened.  So...  You can look for the 4th of July post in August!  For now, here was our cinco de mayo yummy dinner :)

This was the mango salsa.  The bowl on the left was mine because it didn't have as much cilantro

Nate made homemade Chicken, feta and lime taquitos

This is actually leprechaun stew but since I didn't get a change to make any for St. Patrick's day this year, Nate let me make it for Cinco de Mayo instead :)  Lime still works for mexican food right?

Nate also made his own refried beans with black beans.  They were SO good!

I'd say the meal was a success.  And the leftovers even tasted good!

Thirst Hair Show

Every year, Aveda does a lot of fund raising for Earth Month and then donates all the money to different causes around the world and in our communities.  This year, my school raised money for local clean water and also for small communities in various countries and for the Tsunami in Japan.  As part of that fund raising, my school put on a fashion show and the theme was Thirst.  All the students were divided into either dry deserty looks or into smooth hydrated looks.  I got to be in a desert group.  Here is my model!

My goal wasn't really to make her look like a cave woman but I wasn't in charge of clothing so I couldn't change that.  I just did the hair and make up and I'm pretty proud of that :)

In Other News

I just want everyone to know that every once in a while. A tiny amount of Nate's cooking talents rub off on me and I decide to cook something. Occasionally it actually turns out! This was mine and Charity's (for those who don't know, Nate's sister) attempt at Navajo Tacos. They were actually delicious! It was a success.

A Quick Recap

Well, as you are all well aware, I haven't been that good about updating our blog very often seeing as Halloween was like 6 months ago and I'm almost halfway through school now. I will do my best to recap any major events that have happened in our lives for you all. I will start with Christmas and some photos....

We went to San Jose for Christmas last year to visit my parents and it was a lot of fun! Before we went, we did our own personal gift exchange at home. Look at our cute little tiny tree :)

And then we went to California. We visited the children's museum....

Here's Nate

And Dallin ( I think his collar is popped)

And Dad
And I'm really not sure if this is Nate again or Mckay. Either way, it's a good face.
And then waiting outside the Museum

On another day we went to the beach to see the tide pools. It was a bit of a hike to get there. But it was beautiful!

We had a barefoot hippie couple take this for us. They saw us taking individual pictures and told us we needed to take the picture together or it wasn't worth taking pictures. I thought is was pretty funny that they said that.
and then we made it to the tide pools! So pretty....

I guess the culinary side of Nate makes him think he needs to taste everything he picks up. hehe
Thank goodness he didn't try to taste this one!
Me and the kids went to the sandy part to play on the shoreline
I almost got caught by the water

And then I got to hold baby Charlotte. That was the end of our Christmas trip!

Finally... A New Post!

Carving Pumkins!
...cutting off the tops...

Nate was better at it than me

...pulling out the guts...

...and poking the little holes...
I didn't realize it at the time, but this is the only picture we took of the actual carving of the pumpkin.
The finished product!
Scary Ghost and Patrick running away :)
